Institutional Gann Zones projects five levels off the daily open — two resistance zones above and two support zones below — using a blend of Gann price-square math and the day’s own range and volatility. Each level prints as a shaded zone rather than a single line, and the zone widens and darkens automatically as the session’s energy builds, then tightens back down on quiet days.

Reading the levels

  • Open — the day’s anchor, plotted as a dotted line.
  • R1 / R2 — resistance zones projected above the open.
  • S1 / S2 — support zones projected below the open.
  • Zone shading and width both scale off a live volatility reading — wide, dark zones flag a high-energy session; tight, faint zones flag a quiet one.

Use cases

  • Fade the outer zones (R2/S2) when the session is rotating inside its own range.
  • Use R1/S1 as first-target or partial-exit zones on a break away from the open.
  • Treat zones that print wide from the first bar as an expansion-day warning before committing to a direction.
Caution

Levels lock in at the first bar of each session and hold fixed for the rest of the day — they do not repaint intraday, but every new session starts a completely fresh set of zones.
